Who said that the opportunity for forgiveness ends at death?
I hope your family are coping with their loss.
Have you been to sit with them yet or is that off limits too?

Hi Mira!
Just to let you know - Methinks there’s a glitch in the PM system.
You’ve either received my reply three times - Or not at all - I can’t be sure.
Please don’t think you’re being ignored. I’ll try again later.

Only ever forgive and forget if you deem it necessary to improve your quality of life. If not, fuck 'em, why bother?
Sounds really selfish, but hey, No 1 always comes first when counting to ten. more…

Hi Adam
It takes time.
If your father's condition has worsened , that puts pressure on you to decide, I suppose.
Spend time- 10 minutes ,,, an hour ,,, whatever , consciously focusing on this question.
Search the depth of your heart and soul for an answer.
You might want to connect to your father's soul ?

Hey Mira!
All you say makes perfect sense but letting go’s far from easy.
I have been trying. For over a decade. I’m slowly making progress.
FYI - My uncle’s just phoned. My father’s condition has worsened apparently.

Hiya Adam :)
Forgiveness is not about visiting your dad or not, but it is about letting go of feelings like resentment, anger, hate etc the things that eat away at you.
Visit him if it feels right..... if not, don't.
You can forgive from a distance and through time and space.
Personal responsibility.

It’s certainly helped.
The people around me can’t understand.
I know they mean well - I know that they care!
But whatever I feel is real to me! Whether or not it makes sense!

Hey Lilian!
Let it wash over - Absolutely! Precisely what I try to do!
Mostly it works then something happens and certain feelings flood back.
Not a huge problem! I always cope! Methinks mayhap I’m a born survivor!!

I'm not quite sure that happy's the word but forgiveness just ain't gonna happen!
You scared - Okay! I take your point. But as others have said it's rather unlikely!
My parents suffered from interminable anger. Me from being a convenient punch bag.

A great post Adam.
Reason itself is fallible, and this fallibility must find a place in our logic. Your logic.

Agree with Sj...
other people always try to make you feel guilty but it's because they cannot comprehend how you can survive without parental contact...

Sarah will never think that way of you Nick. You are a great dad to her. Some people are not meant to be parents, they try and force a child to be what they want, and are disappointed when he or she is not. You are not like that in anyway at all, but maybe Adams dad was. more…
